First up – the best banana cake I’ve ever tasted. Not because I made it but perhaps because it’s just a fabulous recipe and because the bananas were SO over-ripe you couldn’t even pick them up and they almost ran out of their skins. It was a Hummingbird (www.hummingbirdbakery.com/ @hummingbbakery) recipe and it was for our director Bryan’s hUUUgely BELATED birthday. His is the same day as mine. I bought him choccies from Switzerland but, terrrible to admit, we ate them! Anyway the cake had love whisked into the batter and as even more than one of your five a day was a lot better than Lindt squares!! And to match in with the moist brown hues of the gateau I wore an Autograph M&S (www.marksandspencer.com/ @marksandspencer) skirt that my lovely fashionista friend (also a TV director) had given me. It was its first outing and, having had it altered, it fitted like a glove. I love it – so I am gutted that that night I spilt chicken fat all down the front which hasn’t, as yet, come out! It’s teemed here, in the lift on my way home, with an All Saints (www.allsaints.com/ @AllSaintsLive) Bicester bargain leather short jacket and a brown lacy-type Karen Millen (www.karenmillen.com/ @KarenMillen) sale top. I haven’t worn this combo before and, chicken fat aside, think it could well be making another appearance.
